Summary Our approach is intended to serve as a basis for discussion between program offices concerned with cost and operational commands concerned with readiness. Both warfighters and program managers should understand the importance of logistics and its impact on Ao and LCC. Yet program managers often do not have readily available tools for their analyses. The open sourced, and government owned decision-support tool we propose to develop will provide key decision makers with insight on their investment decisions regarding system design, acquisition, operations, training and maintenance, as well as evaluate the impact of non-controllable factors (such as fuel costs or operational tempo) on readiness and cost. An instantiation incorporating data for the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) or a major weapons system will demonstrate the tool's utility.
