Summary An effort is proposed to develop a flexible and buoyant body armor system. Within this effort multiple studies will be performed to enable both NIJ level III and IV protection levels. Additional ceramic geometric variations (satellite bands, triangular inserts) within the ceramic spheres will be studied. Additional studies of new backing material will also be investigated. The proposed study will form a two year effort providing prototypes for field testing and a manufacturing process.
