Summary As composite materials are used for naval structures such as surface ships and submersible ships, it is important for the structures to survive unwanted underwater shock loading resulting from either explosion or implosion. As a result, the objective of the proposed study is to understand and predict dynamic responses and potential failures of submerged composite structures under shock loading. To this end, multiscale and multiphysics modeling and analysis as well as physical experiments will be conducted.
