Summary |
The Global Defense Posture (GDP) is a USSTRA TCOM requirement to globally deter an adversary and, when necessary, provide Global Strike Capability. GDP is a multi-faceted question which looks at the ability to provide a capability (Global Strike, Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (JSR), Information Operations, Space, Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction, Command and Control, integrated Missile Defense) in support of a Regional Combatant Commander need. Delivering the capability is dependent upon the basing location, the target area, and the performance data associated with the asset. This project addresses issues in the JSR mission area. One specific area of analysis is comparing penetrating versus non-penetrating Airborne JSR Penetrating JSR requires violation of a state's air space; where as non-penetrating JSR is performed from stand-off locations outside of the state's air space. This project will support TRAC-Monterey's conduct a trade-off analysis of JSR capabilities and basing locations using JSR assets, defined by their attributes (timely, survivable, persistent, comprehensive, integrated, adaptable, innovative, credible) as a function of speed, range, endurance, sensor types, sensor probability of detection functions, as well as JSR system employment methods defined by US concepts of operations (CONOPS), adversary system properties, and adversary CONOPS. |
