Summary | SECNAV (Secretary of the Navy) made the enhancement of systems engineering competencies in the workforce a top priority for the Navy. ASN DASN (RDT&E) has the lead for responding to this SECNAV priority. The Naval Chair of SE was established at NPS to support and enhance the NPS response to SECNAV, ASN DASN (RDT&E), COMNAVSEA, Director, SSP and the other Naval SYSCOM's. The Chair will fund travel to attend ABET and INCOSE conference during FY 2015 that will continue to enhance/maintain accreditation of a NPS’ world class education program. SE Department continues to fulfill SECNAV priorities by providing high quality graduate systems engineering programs and opportunities for professional development of both faculty & students in SE and related curricula at NPS. Additionally, the Chair supports SE programs embedded at selected Naval and DoD sites. In this regard, the Chair supports the educational objectives to enhance the capabilities of graduates to assume management and policy-making positions within the Department of Defense acquisition and systems engineering workforce. The Chair also supports research in areas related to the defined needs of ASN DASN (RDT&E), NAVSEA, SPAWAR, NAVAIR, and MARCORSYSCOM; and seeks to stimulate and promote high quality systems engineering research to sustain graduate education relevant to evolving DON (Department of the Navy) needs |
