Summary The confluence of advanced robotics technologies, operational contexts, and future capability needs merit the increasing demand for rapid and innovative approaches to develop, integrate, and deploy future unmanned systems. These emerging technologies, such as those pertaining to collaborative autonomy and ``swarm'' robotic systems-of-systems, often require new understanding and novel techniques to adapt to this fast-changing landscape. This rapid pace necessarily calls for acceleration of the innovation process, from concept generation to field experimentation and hands-on learning, to include enhanced education initiatives to better prepare future decision-makers and operators in this age of unmanned systems and robotics.
Summary of Key Objectives:
- Facilitate state-of-the-art research in collaborative autonomy in support of swarm versus swarm concepts and field experimentation using UAV swarms;
- Enhance robotics-related academic initiatives to broaden campus participation in swarm robotics research, including shared flight datasets, field test experiences, and concept generation opportunities;
- Enable student research and education opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary and operationally relevant experimentation activities
