Summary This effort seeks to improve our ability to monitor climate controlling greenhouse gasses and predict their long term effects on climate. Methane and carbon dioxide are emitted from a multitude of localized sources. Monitoring these emissions on global scale is impossible to do on individual plume by plume bases and must therefore be undertaken by use of satellite sensors. Such remote techniques are under development and the results will be studies.
