Summary The goal of this project is to include moist processes and other subgrid-scale parameterizations into NUMA, the Non-hydrostatic Atmospheric Model of the Atmosphere. NUMA is a high-order accurate and highly scalable compressible Navier-Stokes solver for use in climate and weather simulations at all scales. The work being conducted in this project will extend NUMA to include turbulent closures (e.g., Smagorinsky) to resolve Large-Eddy Simulations in order to resolve all scales from the global atmospheric processes down to the urban-scale (e.g., flow over buildings and city skylines).
