Summary |
In this research, we intend to examine the maintenance of Navy surface ships. Our goal is to determine whether the procedures can be improved to yield cost savings as well as enhance readiness and the availability of ships for operations. Our plan is to examine the existing maintenance data from LPD-17 ships to determine trends that indicate areas where the Navy can make improvements in the maintenance processes. In future years, our goal is to expand this research to produce tools that will allow the Commander, Naval Surface Forces, to better plan, schedule, contract and track the maintenance of surface ships. |
