Summary The “Data Dilemma (dd) Share vs. Silo?” MMOWGLI game is for a diverse group of subject matter experts from the DoD, Industry and Academia. Participants will explore how to improve information sharing within and outside the Department of the Navy (DON) while ensuring that the DON data is properly analyzed for privacy, confidentiality, and security risks. The results of this game will be used to develop a data strategy for the DON and promote opening up DON data for public innovation. The Massive Multiplayer Online War Game Leveraging the Internet (MMOWGLI) is a Web-based idea-exploration game that encourages innovative thinking about some of the world’s most wicked problems. MMOWGLI is designed to support large number of distributed global players working together on idea generation and action planning, with an eye towards surfacing innovative outlier strategies. For the strategic challenges at hand, experts at multiple stakeholder Navy commands need to better understand the opportunities and identify effective paths forward. Broad collaboration using MMOWGLI to conduct brainstorming of new ideas and generate action-plan alternatives is expected to be essential for charting the way ahead for this major Navy-wide initiative.
