Summary | This proposed effort is in support of the Propagation Channel Assessment and Prediction (PCAP) project. There is a pressing need for a climatological database and analysis methods to characterize atmospheric impacts on the SLQ-32 electronic warfare (EW) system deployed on major U.S. Navy surface ships. This database must be applicable to both surface and airborne emitters, and represent both the most common and anomalous atmospheric conditions are expected to be encountered in a given location, season and time of day. The database and methodology developed by this effort will be incorporated and used with electromagnetic (EM) propagation assessment systems, such as the stand-alone Builder application, and/or a more sophisticated and efficient system employed at a METOC reach-back cell. |
