Summary The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Shock and Vibration Computational Laboratory will conduct finite element modeling and simulation using the Dynamic System Mechanics Advanced Simulation (DYSMAS) hydrocode in support of Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) shock survivability analyses. Fundamental changes to the design and configuration for Flight 0+ hulls requires significant rework of existing engineering models. NPS will support the updating of these LCS shock specific models to the representative hulls for both the LCS-1 & LCS-2 variants to be used in future Full Ship Shock Trial (FSST) testing and evaluation assessments. In doing so, the ship structural models will be fully exercised in order to help determine appropriate shock intensity and prediction of ship structural response for the at sea shock trial testing. Additionally NPS will provide Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and Test Plan input on the appropriate use of, and results stemming from updated DYSMAS modeling and simulation shock response analysis efforts.
