Summary As unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) have been widely used in the Naval operations such as anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and mine warfare (MIW), path planning and obstacle avoidance in real-time ocean environment become important in UUV maneuverability. However, the existing UUV path planning algorithm does not use the real oceanographic data. This proposal is to develop a link between Navy ocean data (such as the ocean current velocity, bathymetry, and bottom roughness, etc.) and UUV path planning to ensure optimal solution. It will contribute to the establishment of a mission-focused UxS platform in concert with mission module development plans.
