Summary This proposal focuses on machine learning (ML) applications that enhance space operations. In an increasingly contested environments, the ability to both understand and adapt to the current environment in real time is critical for effective maritime operations. Specifically, the ground and space segments will be studied from the perspective of improved performance when high-power computing and cloud-enabled services are utilized at the tactical edge. Due to the increasingly contested RF environment, satellite communications (SATCOM) interference detection and identifying the interference type is the first focus area. By utilizing an Edge device that is on premise for the ground segment in an austere environment, i.e., a ship, to process the large data sets associated with raw RF signals, ML can be applied to increase the operational command and control (C2) "up time¿. For the space segment, on-orbit command generation using neural networks will be examined to support even-driven and autonomous operations that ultimately benefit the warfighter.
