Summary This project supports the ONR initiative to characterize the fundamental combustion properties of bio-fuels and blends for drop-in replacements for JP-5 and F-76 turbine fuels and to better understand the practical differences that may occur particularly in Navy Diesel engines with the use of such pure and blended bio-derived Hydro-Reformed Jet (HRJ) and other synthetic fuels. Also further studies will be performed to characterize transient plasma ignition (TPI) in both a controlled combustion bomb and areal Diesel engine.
