Pursuant to the revised 29 September 2010 MOU between ASNRDA - CHSENG (Assistant Secretary of Navy Research Development & Acquisition-Chief Systems Engineer), Director SSP (Strategic Systems Program) and the NPS (Naval Postgraduate School) President, the Naval Chair of Systems Engineering proposes to perform studies and analyses in SE topics and areas of focus of immediate concern to the ASNRDA CHSENG and Director SSP as well as stimulate and supervise studies and analyses conducted by NPS faculty and students. Background: SECNAV (Secretary of the Navy) made the enhancement of systems engineering competencies in the workforce a top priority of the Navy. ASNRDA CHSENG has the lead for responding to this SECNAV priority. COMNAVSEA directed NPS to establish of an ABET accredited MS SE curriculum and program at NPS aligned to Navy needs. This priority was fulfilled in September 2010. As the sponsor of Curriculum 580 (Systems Engineering), Director, SSP has the lead for overseeing the curriculum.
The Department of Systems Engineering continues to SECNAV priorities by providing high quality graduate systems engineering.
