Summary | The objective of this project is to analyze the complexity of the interactions between the options of the IPSec protocol and the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) such that security-related configuration errors can be minimized and to determine the feasibility or advisability of using SNMP to manage IPSec policies within a large enterprise. This project will determine whether SNMP should be used to remotely manage IPSec policies within large Enterprises; to include warnings (related to possible mis-configuration) and, when its use is dangerous, recommendations for transitioning to an alternative policy distribution mechanism. |
