Summary Future forces may be required to operate in environments contaminated by chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) weapons. To enhance the warfighter's ability to understand the effects of CBR, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is leading the development of the Joint Operational Effects Federation (JOEF). JOEF is a modeling and simulation (M&S) program to develop families of models that improve leaders' ability to evaluate CBR effects on personnel, equipment, and operations. The principle investigators will team with TRAC-Monterey, AFRL, and a thesis student-officer at the Naval Postgraduate School in assessing the quality of a prototype simulation of a small combat unit operating in an urban environment that has been contaminated with chemical weapons. This research will also analyze simulation data of a future force small combat unit in an urban chemical environment. The results of both of these will lead to recommendations to the JOEF program and TRAC-MTRY on modeling and analyzing small infantry units in CBR environments.
