Back Evaluation of NiAl Propeller Bronze Following Friction Stir Processing (FSP)
Fiscal Year | 2010 |
Division | Graduate School of Engineering & Applied Science |
Department | Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering |
Investigator(s) | McNelley, Terry R. |
Sponsor | Naval Surface Warfare Center-Carderock Division (Navy) |
Summary | This proposal is for funding to evaluate the mechanical properties of selected post FSP NiAl propeller bronze samples in order to determine the factor(s) involved in the observation of occasional high yield strength / reduced ductility when samples consist only of stir zone material. Microstructure - mechanical property relationships will be determined for test coupons and stir zones of materials provided by the NSWC - CD and Edison Welding Institute (EWI). |
