Summary |
The Aviation Selection Test Battery (ASTB) is currently used to select Navy, Marine, and Coast Guard Aviators. The Navy has made great efforts to improve the predictive power of its selection test. One of the recent improvements has been the development of a subbattery of psycho-motor tests intended to assess previously untapped aviator abilities; specifically, a pilot's ability to multi-task. At present, a prototype version of the test has been developed but requires accessing usability, redundancy, performance variation, and user acceptance of the new ASTB components. Research efforts will focus on performance differences in regard to testing layout, pilot experience, and ease of use. Comparisons between new and old ASTB tests will be analyzed to ascertain the new battery's reliability and validity. Objective: Evaluate prototype ASTB, focusing on possible causes of individual performance differences. Provide consultation with NOMI regarding the most usability issues and user acceptance of new ASTB components. |
