Summary | Radar observations provide dense and rapid updated data, which benefit on resolving storm structures finely and capturing storm evolutions timely. The objective of the radar data assimilation system (RDAS) developed at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is to improve the performance of the Navy’s Coupled Ocean/Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS) by providing finer resolution of the initial conditions and more frequent updates of the weather system evolutions. |
