This research has potential to influence the acquisitions cycle for Marine Corps-tactical communications equipment, particularly in the field of IP based radios, peripheral devices such as smartphones, and mobile software solutions. IT also has the potential to affect communications doctrine in regard to the table of equipment, organization of the Company Landing Team's intelligence cell and processing duties at higher headquarters intelligence cells. Research questions include:
- What are the bandwidth capabilities and limitations of a combined MANET/SATCOM system with only a man-portable equipment footprint?
- Is it possible to sustain this system of systems using only expeditionary energy technology?
- How-would-MANET systems complement the traditional and emerging formations of the USMC MED-Level MAGTF, specifically in the T/O and T/E of a Company Landing Team?
- What capabilities would MANET and associated collection tools bring to amphibious assault, MIO (Maritime Interdiction Operations), and HA/DR operations?
- What is the inherent value of the information which is made available in this system to tactical decision makers in contrast to legacy systems?
