Summary The Naval Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center is attempting to provide a solution to the problem of coastal wind turbines radar visibility by shrouding it with a suitable material. The addition of the shroud dramatically alters the performance of wind turbines, which needs to be documented. It is also required to establish the parameter space for the shroud to be RCS effective and deliver the necessary performance to reduce the utility expenses at various Navy facilities. The proposal addresses this need by experimentally evaluating the proposed solutions in a wind tunnel. Scaled model studies will be initially conducted in the NPS MAE wind tunnel and once the most aerodynamically suitable geometry is identified, it will be evaluated at a larger scale in the US Army Aeroflightdynamics Directorate wind tunnel at Moffett Field.
