Fiscal Year 2014

Summary To better understand the relationship between female representation and female retention in the Navy, the following questions will be addressed:
- Does the relative proportion of females in a given occupation affect long-term retention of enlisted females in the Navy?
- Is there a staffing level at which point a "critical mass" is achieved that positively impacts female retention?
- What occupations are more likely to retain women? How can the Navy increase retention of women in other occupations?
- Does this critical mass need to be present in a specific occupation as a whole or does it need to also be present at lower commands to achieve the same effect?
