Summary | Determine the criteria required for the controlled diffraction of a fuel/air detonation wave from a small pilot combustor to a significantly larger secondary combustor. The research will involve the computational modeling of the detonation physics and flow field which will be used to guide the selection of an appropriate experimental test apparatus. Experimental testing will involve the direct observation of a detonation wave traversing a multi-step geometry into a larger combustor. The computational portion of this work will interface with a separately funded program with NUS in Singapore which is sponsored by ONR Global. |
