Summary Modeling and Simulation (M&S) is an essential capability for managing risk, reducing time and cost for Acquisition. There is currently a lack of unified approach for determining which M&S tools to use, when to use them and how to use them across the development lifecycle. A range of learning options are needed to improve the multi-service community members' capabilities to effectively select and implement the correct M&S tools most efficiently. These include initial education and training, refresher training, continuing education, and certification opportunities.
This research intends to directly address this problem with a two phased approach. The first phase is near-term (FY07) and is focused on developing a capabilities-tailored M&S curriculum, which will include a set of courses and curriculum that fully support the Acquisition M&S Master Plan. The second phase is long-term (FY08-FY10) and will focus on the course content development, deployment and effectiveness evaluation. The Learning Architecture proposed in this project will provide M&S education solutions tailored to user/career goals while meeting identified education/training needs through instructional packages, outlines and recommendations focused on the individual workforce member. It will also provide a means for validated certification within the M&S Acquisition workforce.
