Summary | Past work in crawling ground vehicles (based on cockroach locomotion) will be expanded to create biologically inspired mobile air and ground robotic vehicles that will serve as testing and implementation platforms for a very broad array of future control and field mobility experiments. The focus of this collaborative research will be directed toward the removal of shallow water mines in the turbulent surf zone. The completion of this research will provide a generational leap in mobile robots for amphibious military operations. |
