Summary | NPS brings to the table knowledge of naval systems and the radio frequency (RF) environment from naval platforms. L-3 brings to the table knowledge of airborne systems and the RF environment from airborne platforms. One of the critical requirements for both naval and airborne electronic intelligence and electronic support systems is to be able to accurately detect and measure low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) radio frequency signals with a wide variety of modulation parameters (variables include sub-code width, modulation type and modulation bandwidth). Single bandwidth radiometers are limited in the range of modulations that can be handled. Matched filter detectors are optimal, but given the large variety of modulations to match, are not practical in real time systems with limited computational resources. New techniques to address these challenges are of common interest. |
