Back TRAC Crowd Behavior Algorithm for Combat Modeling
Fiscal Year | 2016 |
Division | Research & Sponsored Programs |
Department | Modeling, Virtual Environments & Simulation Institute |
Investigator(s) | Balogh, Imre L. |
Sponsor | TRADOC Analysis Center-Monterey (Army) |
Summary |
The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) research team will develop a crowd behavior conceptual model for implementation into a combat model and show a proof of concept. Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Analysis Center (TRAC) conducts many types of operational effectiveness analysis on equipment, tactical doctrine, and force design. Within these studies, TRAC extensively uses combat modeling as the base of its analysis. Military operations, across the spectrum of warfare, in the future will become more involved in urban areas and will come into contact many more civilians. Combat models used in operational effectiveness analysis need to be improved to reflect the fact that military operations will be increasingly executed in the midst of heavily populated urban areas. The NPS research team will work closely with the TRAC Monterey (TRAC-M) study team to provide: - Crowd Behavior conceptual model. - Documentation detailing the design of the conceptual model and implementation procedures. - Implementation of a proof of concept implemented in NetLogo and interfaced to COMBATXXI. |
