Back Modeling Environmental Effects on Energetic Signatures

Summary The goal of this project is to understand the role of environmental effects on the measured signatures of IEDs. We are approaching this primarily from a computational standpoint, and attempting to estimate explosive response in many situations where experimental data is extremely limited. In FY12, we focused on two main areas: first, developing an environmental transport model that described the movement of trace solid, liquid, and gas and gas concentrations around an explosive at the surface or shallowly buried. Our primary goal is to examine the mobility of various environmental degradation products, to improve IED sensing algorithms.
