|Summary||The purpose of the proposed effort is to explore and implement the use of meteorological sensors on Unmanned Systems (UxS). UxS provide a unique opportunity for sampling the environment in denied-access and data-poor regions and in any location where detailed spatial environmental information is needed. Such information can be vital for a variety of missions and includes characterizations of weather conditions such as high winds, dust, precipitation, extreme hot and cold, and sea state. Also important are the atmospheric impacts on electromagnetic (EM) radio systems such as radar, communications, jamming and weapons systems and electro-optical (EO) systems such as various passive visible and infrared sensors and active systems such as laser. This work will involve (1) a study of how DAS-derived data will improve weather and EM propagation nowcasts and forecasts, (2) Evaluation of the use of unmanned ocean surface vehicles such as the SHARC waveriders used during RIMPAC (3) development of an atmospheric parameters sampling strategy for UAS, (4) Testing of UAS Airborne sensor during field programs such as TNT and JIFX.|
