Summary We propose an approach to address the Sufficiency and Effectiveness questions simultaneously with one modeling approach. These questions may be addressed through using existing force structure elements, .i.e., BCTs, and match to existing or proposed mission sets. Our approach would be to establish primitives which represent elements of the existing BCT, e.g., company or battalion level units, and then to determine the best mix of those primitives that best achieve accomplishment of the tasks which support accomplishment of a given mission set. This approach requires analysis of a much larger set of alternatives than those provided by other approaches; however, we intend to solve this problem using optimization modeling and multi-objective decision analysis techniques to avoid those issues.
