Summary Naval leaders are concerned about maintaining maritime superiority in a global highly contested & asymmetric environment, requiring rapid response & innovation. The challenge is to create a culture of innovation, with the methods, practices and tools available to the workforce that can rapidly & effectively address these concerns.
In this project, we will interview innovators in the Naval Research and Development Establishment (NR&DE) in order to develop case studies of successful Naval innovations to assist in proliferating best practices across the NRDE. We will explore how to cultivate and foster a culture of innovation.
The intention is to build on the initial work conducted in FY17.
The first round of interviews and analysis in FY17 will inform the direction for FY18 interviews. The ground work developed in FY17 (Literature review, development of interview questions, Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, initial interviews and analysis) provides a rich foundation. We will be able to begin conducting interviews early in 2nd quarter. We believe that these shared stories of best practices will help fuel the growing R&D Innovation community of practice. Our intention is to accelerate the cultivation of a culture of learning and innovation in the NRD&E.
