The International Defense Acquisition Resource Management (IDARM) Program at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California educates authorized allied military officers and civilian equivalents. IDARM provides graduate level executive and continuing education programs that support intellectual innovation and growth throughout the careers of the total force. IDARM program offerings provide participants with the tools, techniques, and skills to foster improvements in defense acquisition decision-making within their armed forces and defense institutions. IDARM will conduct a one-week "Procurement and Contracting" course during 27-31 August, 2018 in Pretoria, South Africa. This five day course will examine key considerations associated with defense procurement and contracting. Emphasis is placed on procurement planning and effective contract management. Participants will discuss best practices and complete a series of small group exercises based on the practical application of the concepts and methods discussed throughout the week. Background readings will be provided to amplify topics discussed and serve as a resource for participants. Additionally, this course will help build the intellectual capital of the Naval Postgraduate School faculty confirmed to support this effort.
