Summary | The mission of the Joint Test and Evaluation Methodology (JTEM) Directorate is to develop and evaluate methods and processes used to conduct testing in a complex joint mission environment across the acquisition life cycle to improve the program manager's ability to deliver joint capability to the war fighter. For a joint mission environment when many interdependent systems are involved, assessing system and system of system contributions to joint mission effectiveness becomes quite a challenge. A change in one system may have cascading effects and, furthermore, many of these systems may be at different points of development and acquisition. Testing provides an opportunity to get data helpful to the decision makers in the realm. However, cogent planning for the tests themselves involves the consideration of what and how exactly to test. An the current ways of testing systems are not necessarily scalable in this complex environment, thus new methods and processes of testing and evaluation are needed. |
