Back Port Security Underwater IED Project
Fiscal Year | 2008 |
Division | Research & Sponsored Programs |
Department | National Security Institute |
Investigator(s) | Shebalin, Paul V. |
Sponsor | Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (Joint) |
Summary | This project builds on the wargaming and simulations, systems engineering studies, and field experiments previously conducted by NPS, in collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and Temasek Defense Systems Institute (TDSI). It proposes to refine the analytical effectiveness and cost models developed during the conduct of the NPS "Port Security 2012" systems study conducted with TDSI to assess port security, and to use these models to assess the cost effectiveness of various systems alternatives for improving port security to defeat terrorist activity that lead to the implantation of UIEDs. This will expand the validity of the results of this analytical approach by extending the testbed developed by NPS and LLNL to develop field test data to validate the analytical results. |
