This research proposes to extend our earlier 2010-2012 investigation into SE metrics (Applied Leading Indicators) and investigate how SE metrics and models may lend additional support and insight into the previous work.
This year the focus will shift somewhat to investigate how the application of System Definition Enabled Acquisition (SDEA) can provide insight into design maturity. From earlier work it is clear that there is a linkage between design and TOC and the sooner one can gain an understanding of the design of a system the sooner one can influence critical factors, avoiding technical issues as well as influencing design and trade-offs that affect TOC. The final area that the sponsor has shown recent emphasis for this year is in the area of understanding and influencing system interoperability and integration (I&I) issues. It is believed that SDEA can also be very beneficial in gaining insight into I & I issues and hence be of tremendous value in this arena as well.
