Summary The objective of this work is development of algorithms and software for general implementation of pseudospectral optimal control techniques, with special attention to trajectory optimization. Maximizing the effectiveness of flying vehicles requires high-performance guidance and control. Recent theoretical and computational advances offer the possibility of implementing optimal control for nonlinear dynamics in real time. This Phase I STTR will lead to a MATLAB prototype software package for feedback pseudo spectral optimal control, algorithmic and software designs for real-time implementation, and studies on trajectory optimization examples.
