Summary | The proposed research aims at three topics on the optimization theory and algorithms for several issues of data assimilation. (i) Find the relationship between observability, which is computed without a known truth and sensor data, and the sensitivity of observation impact; (ii) Explore numerical methods of data thinning for the purpose of reducing the data size data assimilation; (iii) Explore numerical methods of optimization and parallel algorithms that have significant potential for weak-constrained and long-time window data assimilation. |
