Summary Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet COMPACFLT (CPF) faces unique challenges executing Joint Fires in their area of responsibility (AOR). Using a systems engineering approach, this research seeks the additional nuanced requirements and TTP for ensuring successful operations. In certain scenarios, COMPACFLT (CPF) is responsible for executing Joint Fires (JF) in their area of responsibility. Due to area size and other circumstances, they know that existing JF doctrine is necessary, but may not be sufficient for successful JF execution. CPF staff reason that adjusting war fighting education might reduce any gaps in the operator's ability to effectively and efficiently execute JF. Before anyone develops additional educational resources, they must first inventory the need. This research will do so by employing applied systems engineering processes. The research will establish a base JF use case and a CPF specific use case, and compare the results. In addition, the researchers will consider those processes within the baseline case where CPF thinks more emphasis is needed. Research will identify potential short comings. Researchers are exploring the possibility of using a table top wargame with subject matter experts to validate these findings. The specific research questions will be: What differentiates the CPF operating environment and AOR? What JF requirements are inferred because of this unique operating environment? Besides existing doctrine, what additional TTPs, exercises, and education are required to improve CPF JF effectiveness?
