Summary A lack of robustness in many critical electronic systems aboard a ship creates unneeded work when a ship's system goes down. There is no other means other than manually to track maintenance scheduling. Tag-Outs, Training, or Food Management until system is restored. This research will use computer and information science fundamentals to prototype a mix of vendor solutions, which will then be tested in the NPS labs. SME (Subject Manager Experts) from the sponsor side will be involved to make sure that NPS researchers are moving in the right direction. Minor events with relatively short timeframe affixes create major problems. What one needs is to develop a simple, cost effective back-up so 1hat a ship's PMS, Training, 3M, etc. programs don't grind to a halt due to one casualty, Loss of NIAPS is a single point failure for SKED J.2. ESOMS, TORIS/TFOM, ATIS programs (tech manuals). The only option is contained in JM Manual and TUM that document procedures for using paper until the computer systems are restored.
