Summary | This research builds upon previous NPS-JIEDDO field research and experimentation and modeling efforts conducted at Camp Roberts. Intent of this research effort is to support current counter IED (CIED) efforts while simultaneously refining the associated operational scenarios and advancing the integration of emergent sensor and networking capabilities into the IED defeat value chain. The NPS will support two major modeling & simulation (M&S) objectives aimed at helping to advance the technical gaming process. These major tasks include (1) live experimentation and (2) exploration of using distributed sensors and networked multi-function device systems to accelerate the development, testing, and operationalization of surrogate models currently under development. Live experimentation will be conducted at Camp Roberts/Fort Hunter Liggett (FHL) field facilities during TNT 11-3/11-4. In addition to M&S efforts, intent is to develop/refine operationally driven use cases and identify integral IED information value delivery chains (i.e., composed of tactical IED information consumers, "suppliers," and "info-manufacturers" (analytics, sensors, services, etc.) capable of disseminating timely, contextually relevant IED information. |
