Summary | Update and extend the NPS Military Wireless Communications Research Group Cellular and Wireless Experimentation Laboratory research support capability. The capability supported and extended by this recapitalization represents a significant increase in the scale of experimentation that may be leveraged to explore the utility and cost/benefit assessment of adoption or adaptation of emerging COTS mobile computing and communications capabilities. The capabilities extended and enhanced by this effort will be used to foster further cross-discipline academic research, operationally relevant student thesis efforts, concept of operations (CONOP) exploration, and system performance experimentation. The upgraded capabilities will continue to provide students, particularly Marine 'Officers, with direct access to emerging cellular and wireless technologies, spawning innovation through experimentation, development of proofs-of-concepts for combat relevant applications and information delivery systems through the exploitation and adaptation of commercial systems not otherwise available to deployed forces. Informed and insightful leveraging of such systems will magnify the operational capability of our highly-mobile, rapid-response forces, leveraging their proximity to the operational foci of gravity to generate relevant intelligence and decision-critical information. |
