Summary Since our approach allows for a diversity of signal inputs, configurable workflows, standard formats with the option of new compression codecs and emerging transport streams, and is based on media delivery over Internet Protocol (IP), a general solution for high-speed internet access is suitable for this application. Furthermore, we propose a modularized system that not only provides the required in-field capabilities, but also enhances shipboard capabilities, such as allowing for the transmission of DMA.mil media assets to a ship-board DMA.mil mirror site or the use of a Video Teleconference (VTC) link. It is a scalable approach, well-suited to future architectures and formats, and supported by many years of experience, a robust research community and a deep understanding of Navy operational requirements. The intent of this year’s activities is to provide an integrated and whole solution that includes multi-media ingest, workflow management, collaborative video cloud environment (e.g. video annotation and sharing), as well as uplink and downlink capabilities through the integration with third-party Satellite Communications equipment.
