Summary By examining trends in cetacean population abundance in the context of ecosystem variability and changes in the levels of anthropogenic sound in the marine environment, this research will provide useful analyses to aid cetacean conservation and management efforts in U.S. West coast waters. In addition, it will enhance knowledge of the associations between cetaceans and the physical and biological processes in the California Current ecosystem.
