Summary TRAC-Monterey is carrying out supporting research to produce a documented and tested methodology that applies Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) methods to decision situations in order to expand mission command oriented analysis. Mission command features decentralized execution with subordinate commanders exercising disciplined initiative while acting aggressively and independently to accomplish the mission within the commander's intent. The major objectives for this project consist of:
1. Employ a MCTS method in the Deployed Force Protection (DFP) scenario in the Joint Dynamic Allocation of Fires and Sensors (JDAFS) simulation environment.
2. Use MCTS to provide meaningful analysis on mission command decisions and capabilities with the DFP scenario, and to validate the simulation.
3. Comment on the effectiveness of MCTS methods in analyzing decisions in combat simulations.
