Summary | The purpose of the USW Chair Program is to enhance academic and research content within the Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Science (GSEAS) technical engineering curricula as they relate to USW studies. Funding enables establishment of NPS as a major center for education, research and analysis in USW subjects. To that end a portion of this funding supports the Undersea Warfare Research Center. This research center functions under the NPS Undersea Warfare Academic Group housed within GSEAS. Parties to the Memorandum of Agreement for the Chair of Undersea Warfare acknowledge that the Chair position operates on a continuing basis to support USW education, research, acquisition and life cycle management. This proposal supports the continuing employment agreement of RADM Winford G. "Jerry" Ellis, USN (Ret) as the current chair, required travel expenses, and funds necessary for initiating and sustaining USW research in support of sponsor interest. |
