Summary Our partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) began in 2016. The FBI identified a significant gap in their ability to analyze social network data. Consequently, the FBI asked the CORE Lab to provide SNA education to its team in Chicago. We developed a partnership with the Chicago RA and collaborated on developing, and completing, two education events in Chicago. The feedback from participants was very positive and we are proposing to expand this effort to a greater FBI audience. This SOW will include deliverables for FY 2018 and FY 2019.
For FY 2018, the CORE Lab will complete an After Action Review of prior FBI/SNA training events and develop additional course materials, to include labs to learn then GAMA software, for future iterations of the course.
For FY 2019, the CORE Lab will facilitate three outreach and education events for the Federal Bureau of Investigation during FY 19 (October 2018 - September 2019). Each event will be structured as a two part training with the first iteration lasting four days. Students will learn the theory and methodology of Social Network Analysis. They will begin the development of an SNA project to include building out a research-based approach to map the social network. The second training event will last three days with a focus on data structuring and advanced SNA methods used in active investigations.
