Summary The overall goals of the project is to gain understanding of the database schema that will lead to a ACDB Database for the ACAT III & IV programs. NPS researchers are computer and information scientists who understand the technology and it's efficient use of. The first goal will be to identify Subject Matter Experts (SME) from the Naval community who well understand the current system (ACDB databases for ACAT I & II) and functionality. There will be a need to get representative datasets which the NPS team will use in in 1-5 below. During 1-5 the NPS team will assess the need or not, of a Big Data platform (from Oracle-Cloudera), for the purposes of forecasting and analytic.
Task 1: NPS researchers work with SME to understand the database schema behind the ACDB database that supports ACAT I & II acquisition programs.
Task 2: Identify all reports related to 1 and the SQL (Structured Query Language) to support it.
Task 3: Work with a SME to build a ACDB database schema for ACAT III & IV programs.
Task 4: Identify all reporting related SQLs for 3.
Task 5: NPS researchers will build a prototype (of 3/4) using Oracle Database (leveraging the Navy/MC Oracle licensing) and APEX (web enable of DB tool from Oracle) to build the reports. There will some training needed in APEX if complex reports are needed.
