Back High Temperature Superconducting Technology Impacts for Naval Systems

Summary The research team at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) will study the development, current state, and future possibilities of high temperature superconducting technology for shipboard power, propulsion, and warfighting applications. The ship impact will be assessed using both subject matter expert approximation and/or ship synthesis modeling, as applicable. The ship impact studies will consider life cycle aspects as feasible, including life cycle cost impacts. Warfighting effectiveness will be modeled using various simulations in order to attempt to quantify the technology impacts to warfighting effectiveness using appropriate scenarios. The research team will consist of faculty from the systems engineering, electrical and computer engineering, and operations research departments at NPS.
